It is the heart wish of Garchen Rinpoche that the Garchen Buddhist Institute exist in perpetuity:
“Now I have grown old. My hope and objective is for this center to abide for as long as this country exists, for many hundreds and many thousands of years. Indeed, for as long as sentient beings exist. Principally, it is the stupa and temple that I have created with this motivation.” –Garchen Rinpoche
The Southwest Buddhafield Endowment Fund was established to ensure that the wish of our precious teacher is realized, and that the Garchen Buddhist Institute exists as a sanctuary of peace and a pillar of the Dharma for generations to come. A Legacy of Love!
The Fund’s updated objective is to raise $3 million, which will be placed with a wealth management firm, with the returns supporting the Institute’s operations and maintenance.
As of December 17, 2025 the Endowment Fund Total is $2,133,286.25
Sponsorship Opportunity – White Tara Thangka:
The story of our White Tara thangka is one of those rare moments when blessings reveal themselves unmistakably. During the 2006 Vajrakilaya Drubchen, what began as a simple wish for a Tara thangka blossomed into a miracle. The exact painting we envisioned, with White Tara at the center whose features strikingly resemble Garchen Rinpoche and surrounded by 1,000 Taras, was already waiting in a Nepali artist’s studio. Today it hangs in the Garchen Institute Temple, a living expression of compassion.
For those who feel inspired to be part of this blessing, a contribution of $1,000 sponsors a Tara on the thangka. A contribution of $5,000 sponsors a Tara in one of the rainbow spheres surrounding the central figure. Every sponsorship helps seed the Southwest Buddhafield Endowment and ensures Rinpoche’s activity flourishes for generations.
Sponsorship Opportunity – Bodhisattva Stone Garden:
The Bodhisattva Stone Garden, now completed, is a place of quiet refuge and deep inspiration. A total of 37 engraved sandstone slabs form its foundation, each one honoring a verse of the Thirty-Seven Bodhisattva Practices. This teaching is profoundly meaningful to Garchen Rinpoche and has been one of his central practices throughout his life. More than half of the slabs still await adoption.
A donation of $25,000 sponsors one full sandstone slab. Partial sponsorships are also available, including $12,500, $5,000, $2,500, and $1,000.
By adopting a slab, you help support the Southwest Buddhafield Endowment and ensure that the spirit of the bodhisattva path continues to flourish for generations.
