We are excited to announce the preliminary stages of the Garchen Archive project—a global initiative to create a comprehensive, searchable collection of Garchen Rinpoche’s teachings.

This worldwide effort aims to preserve, organize, and make accessible thousands of hours of Rinpoche’s wisdom through a multilingual digital archive. With the generous support of benefactors and a dedicated team, this archive will enable practitioners around the world to study Rinpoche’s teachings in their preferred languages and formats, ensuring his profound wisdom reaches the hands and hearts of current and future generations.

Key Functionality

  • Multilingual Interface – Access teachings in multiple languages with intuitive navigation
  • Advanced Search Capabilities – Find teachings by themes, dates, and keywords, as well as searching the content of Rinpoche’s teachings through timecoded transcripts. To help facilitate this, we will be training AI language models for Tibetan speech-to-text and translation
  • Flexible Video Player – Support for viewing various combinations of transcript and translation, with options to play teachings with or without oral translation
  • Specialized Content Management – Purpose-built system optimized for multilingual Dharma teachings

We Need Your Contributions and Support

We’re currently in the critical first phase of assessing, collecting, and consolidating materials from individuals and centers worldwide. This foundational work will shape the future capabilities of the Archive.

Ways You Can Help Right Now:

Share Materials: If you have video recordings, audio files, written transcriptions, or imagery of Garchen Rinpoche’s teachings, your contribution is invaluable to creating a complete archive. Even materials you might consider imperfect or fragmentary could fill important gaps in the collection.

Volunteer Your Skills: We welcome support from community members with various abilities:

  • Translation Skills:
    • Direct translation from Tibetan to your language
    • Translation from English transcriptions to your language once available
    • Review and refinement of AI-assisted translations
  • Transcription Capabilities:
    • Transcription of original Tibetan teachings
    • Transcription of oral translations in various languages including Chinese, English, German, Hebrew, Japanese, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Ukranian, Vietnamese
    • Verification and correction of automated transcriptions
    • Time-coding existing written transcripts

As we receive and catalog materials from around the world, additional language needs will emerge. Your linguistic expertise, even in languages not listed above, could prove invaluable to the project.
